Cambuslang – Carmyle Heron

Background

Situated off the bridge that crosses the River Clyde on Clydeford Road is a sculpture of a bird standing on a nest, mounted on an 8 metre pole at a junction of National Cycle Route 75, which is also part of the Clyde Walkway that stretches between Partick and New Lanark.

The metallic wire sculpture of depicts a heron, a wading bird. Despite being on the Cambuslang side of the river, it is known as the Carmyle Heron.

The artwork was designed by Andy Scott and was commissioned by Sustrans.
