Coatbridge – Blair Bridge Archway

Situated adjacent to a bridge over the Monklands Canal on Blair Road is a 6-metre-high steel archway, made up of thousands of pieces of thousands of pieces of shaped steel that have been welded together.

Created by artist Andy Scott, with the assistance of pupils from St Ambrose High School, it celebrates the work of local comic-book artist Mark Millar. The archway features a superhero called Captain Coatbridge, along with two other female superheroes, each holding up the sun, moon and stars.
