Coatbridge – Vulcan Comic Book Adventures

Background

Situated between the Blair Bridge Archway and the Monklands Canal walkway is a large panel on a stand depicting two pages of a comic book, the storyline of which references the local area and industry, including references to the Vulcab, a canal boat that is now one of the main outdoor exhibits at Summerlee Museum.

Adjacent to the comic book monument are four granite blocks etched with abstracted shapes and exclamatory words from comic books.

The comic book monument was designed by artist Andy Scott and the pupils of St Ambrose High School.

The granite blocks were designed by artist Merlin Currie and the pupils of St Ambrose High School.
