East Kilbride – Whistling Dogs

Background

In East Kilbride village is a monument named “Charming,” which is of two whistling dogs. The bronze sculptures were created by Shona Kinloch and installed as part of an environmental arts programme in the new town.

Shona is a Scottish artist and sculptor, born in 1962, who resided in East Kilbride. She studied at the Glasgow School of Art. Specialising in creating bronze sculptures, many of her works can be seen throughout Scotland including the Dog on Head sculptor in Hamilton’s shopping precinct.
