Wake up each morning to the sounds of Lanarkshire’s wildlife, as recorded in various nature reserves, woodlands, gardens, parks or countryside locations around the county.
Spend your day listening to the world’s finest singer-songwriters performing their own songs. There are no cover versions, no ready-assembled pop acts and no TV talent-show winners singing songs written by other people. We also want you to listen to the song lyrics, so there are no talking DJ’s to interrupt the music. Throughout the day we also play singer-songwriters from Lanarkshire and Scotland, including new and emerging artists.
On weekday evenings we provide a mix of speech programs including interviews, dramas, storytellers, poetry, comedy and more.
On weekday evenings we celebrate Lanarkshire’s ethnic and minority communities, as they provide a whole hour showcasing their music and culture for us all to enjoy.

In recognition of Lanarkshire’s many brass bands, especially in the former mining communities, we provide two hours of this music genre. The first hour is presented by Chris Johnston, a very experienced brass musician living in Girvan. The second hour is presented by Jamie McVicar, a euphonium and tuba player who is originally from Campbelltown but now lives in the USA. Both shows are productions from Sounds-of-Brass Radio based in Girvan, the UK’s only dedicated 24/7 brass band radio channel. Visit their website here.
Hear Lanarkshire’s own equivalent to John Peel. Eversince Bill Drummond and The KLF created a new genre of downbeat techno that was accompanied by slow rhythms and atmospheric sounds, with the album they titled “Chill-Out,” this style of music (also once known as Ambien) has been championed by many other artists around the world. Now there are whole radio stations dedicated to playing it round-the-clock. However, none of them recognise just how much chill-out music originates from Scotland, even though their playlists are dominated by Scottish artists. So each night after midnight, we present two hours of chilled-out music, ballads, instrumentals and more, featuring ONLY Scottish artists and bands that have created chill-out and Ambien music.
Davy Sims presents two hours of the finest music from around the world, regardless of genre or language. For more information cick here.

Remember when some radio stations devoted their late evenings and Saturday afternoons to shows for the serious music lover, with new songs, album tracks, interviews and more? If you are the kind of person who prefers to spend a big chunk of their income on CD’s, vinyl, music merchandise or concert tickets each month, this is the show for you, presented by Art – a series music fan whose spare bedrooom floor groans beneath the weight of his CD and record collection that’s precariously perched on the shelves of his floor-to-ceiling wall units.
Afrobeat has become an increasingly popular genre in the UK – and not just among Afro-Caribbean or African residents that live here. Ladyboss, who is Scotland’s own expert (and was once a presenter on BBC Radio 1 Xtra), presents two hours of classic and new Afrobeat music from the sunshine continent and around the world.
It is said that Lanarkshire is the birthplace of Progressive Rock, when the band called Clouds began experimenting with a new synthesiser sound to compliment guitars and possibly inspired many other well-known prog-rock artists. George presents two hours of the finest (and sometimes very long) rock tracks from the golden era of Prog, plus some occasional new music from bands who keep the genre going.

Remember that great single which you’re sure was a hit? Unfortunately, your memory may be playing tricks on you because even though you know the song well and it probably was (or still gets) played on the radio a lot, the UK’s record-buyers were often fickle and didn’t purchase enough copies to send it into the mainstream charts. On this show we give those songs the recognition they probably deserved, as well as playing tracks that were far outside of the Top 40 and have been stuck in record archives. Be prepared for a few surprises, as we play familiar pop and rock singles that were only a few hundred sales from getting into the UK’s Top 40. Be astonished as you listen to tracks that were hits across the world but were never released in the UK (or failed to chart here). Be amazed as you hear songs that were regularly played on radio – except during Sunday Evening chart shows. Be gobsmacked at the tunes that had so much potential but sadly became only available in the bargain bins at record stores. Art plays those songs from his collection, with some of the singles still having Woolworths price stickers on them.
