Shire Extra for lanarkshire Shire Extra Across Lanarkshire
On Saturday July 13th 2024, the Summer Sessions was held at The Joker bar (one of Lanarkshire’s finest music venues) in the Mossend area of Bellshill, the small industrial community that has been the epicentre of the Scottish and UK indie music since the invention of the guitar. Even legendary Radio 1 DJ John Peel knew that – and he created a Channel 4 documentary that featured the town.
With Bellshill’s reputation for creating, championing and supporting new and emerging bands, whilst further cementing its reputation as the place that has had a disproportionately high number of successful artists who were born or raised there (for such a small place), it was natural for the town’s go-to live music hang-out to hold an all-day festival across two rooms, with little time between performances as one great act finished and the other started, giving just enough time for the Chris Topher (the event organiser) to MC and introduce the next one.
Bands and artists who performed on the day included:
We look forward to another Summer Sessions in 2025. Even so, if you don’t want to experience FOMO and don’t want to spend the rest of your life in regret for not seeing some of the finest upcoming bands and artists in the world, who take time out of their busy schedules to perform in one of Lanarkshire’s greatest places for live music, then you need to spend more time socialising at The Joker bar in Bellshill, whilst keeping an eye on THIS FACEBOOK PAGE for upcoming performances.
